Finished and Done

I auditioned two different corners: the scrappy look and the more solid look.
I chose the more solid look.
I love the way things turned out. The whole process of digging out locating the ruler, sewing up the scrappy strips, drafting the edge pieces and auditioning fabrics to make the connection to each block.
It reminds me of my grandma's quilts.
Final measurement 56 1/2 inches square and I don't think I'll be bordering the quilt..... LOL

  1. very interesting--I have enjoyed watching your progress, I agree with your choice. The solids in the corners give it a uniformed look. I would add a small red (ish) border and piano keys- but then I am all about adding more work for others- lol

  3. Cheryl.... you are too funny...... if you only knew how much I don't like piano keys... it's an inside joke with some of my girlfriends.... every time each of us made a quilt, the rest would say, "It needs piano keys for the border!" But I will really consider your suggestion and who knows, I just might get to use up more of those scraps.
I really do appreciate the advice... SMILES!!

  6. lol- I have a love hate relationship with piano keys, I love it when I can use up the rest of a controlled scrappy materials, hate it when I have to strip cut to make the sets-
I don't like them on everything but do like a good key border on a scrappy quilt, it lets me see more of the fabrics.

  7. Yes, your plainer corners are a good choice. That way they don't take attention away from the circular effect of the stars.

  8. This is WONDERFUL . . . I, too, can see a scrappy border (perhaps string pieced four patches rather than p. keys).

But, you are the one to do the deciding/stitching. I'm just here to enjoy the results!

    Congrats on this flimsy!!!
