First I should tell you where my wonky strips come from. I have a Go cutter and I love using the large Tumbler die. In fact I've made several tumbler quilts in many sizes.
<<<< First I cut a 7½" strip of fabric & fold it to fit within the area shown with the arrows. One pass through the Go and I've quickly cut 6 tumblers with a whole lot of leftover pieces of fabric.
The latest fabric collection I cut tumblers from was called Aqua Terra from Connecting Threads and these are some of the leftover strips.
Here is one block in progress....
I'm not sure what I'll wind up doing with them when they're all finished but for now I'm having a lot of fun just sewing these.
That's it for now and I'd like to invite you all to stop in and visit me when you're out blog hopping.
See you then...

I like the look of these blocks. thanks for sharing them with us, Linda!
ReplyDeleteGreat use of scraps!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blocks! Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteHi Linda...
ReplyDeleteWhat type of paper do you use? Is it typing paper? ♥♥♥
The paper I've used is newsprint 8.5x11 from Dick Blick. I run the sheets through the printer when I use it for paper piecing, Triangulations and of course I use it for string piecing. It tears away much easier than regular computer paper.
ReplyDeleteI have the GO and die cut most of my tops. I keep an on going tote of strings and another of crumbs. I also die cut phone pages so I can string on them.
ReplyDeletegreat idea of strings as you go for a controlled scrappy look. It is like getting an extra quilt from each project you do.
Wonderful tutorial, great colors and cool wonky blocks!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous string blocks.
ReplyDeleteJust ran across this while following links from one blog to another to another and SO GLAD I did! I've never felt the urge to buy a Go Cutter but now I'm going to have to get one - not because I want to make a Tumbler quilt but because I want those funky scraps. Your blocks are absolutely gorgeous and I can't wait to make some similar ones!!
