Hi friends!
I'm Jeanne from a small resort town in the southern California mountains, and I'm delighted to be stringing along here with you. I've coordinated with Brenda about her recent half log cabin challenge, and I'm ready to go!!!
I'm the Comfort Quilts chairperson for my guild, and one of the organizations we support is Doves, a domestic violence shelter for moms and kids who need a safe place to stay. For this challenge, I'll be collecting 12 1/2" half log cabin blocks that start with a nice bright yellow patch in the corner. I'd especially like to get blocks that use happy bright summer flower colors. Twelve blocks will make a child's quilt, or twenty four blocks will be used for a mom's quilt. Please consider helping by sending a block or two -- leave a comment below and I'll email you my mailing address.
Thanks, Brenda, for giving me this opportunity to collect blocks that will make special quilts for families in crisis who need a hug!

Great start! I'm going to make some today too. I'm thinking we don't need foundations for this type of square. What do you prefer?
ReplyDeleteI didn't use foundations for these two sample blocks -- just added strips to the sides till they were big enough, and then trimmed 'em down to square. If anyone is more comfortable using the foundations, though, I'm fine with that too. I'll be delighted to work with whatever anyone sends me!
ReplyDeleteJeanne :)
Thanks Nifty :) Let me know when you're ready to mail and need my address. I la-la-love your red tulips!!!

I'll send you a couple of blocks, Jeanne. What is the timetable for these?
ReplyDeleteHow does mid/end of April sound? Whenever I get enough blocks I'll start assembling.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Jeanne

Oops, I made my centers red/red-orange. I hope that's acceptable. May I have your address, please? I'm so happy you volunteered to take the blocks for a good cause. Maybe I'll make more before I send these.
ReplyDeleteThat's fine Carol -- bright colors will make a happy quilt :) I sent you may address.
