Last one for the year

Sharing a final string quilt for this year.

I just finished assembling this top over the weekend, as part of a Rainbow Scrap Challenge year-end report.  I'll get back to layering and quilting it in the next month or so.  Onward to 2015 and more quilts!

when did I make this string quilt??

Came across this photo today of what looks like a baby quilt made, maybe a decade ago? Who knows?  But typical of me, nothing lines up or matches. That's the beauty of string quilts - right??!! I'm thinking I should do another one...
 Happy holidays, everyone!

Hello

Just stopping by to share a couple of string quilts I finished this year.  The lighter blue/green quilt was completed in late spring, and the darker one just recently.  Both have been donated to my guild for use as comfort quilts.

Thank you for your string inspirations this year.  I'm hoping to be much more productive in 2015.

Have a joyful holiday season!

New to the group.

I found this group while participating in the Canadian Blog Hop. Love all the work you are all doing, and I love string quilts. Here are a couple that I have made.
This is the first one I ever made. It was a Gwen Marsden technique, crooked strings and very small.
My cousin and I made this one for our 87 yrs old Aunt. Just scraps and she loved it.
I made this one from a swap that I did. Love the border fabric, purchased it at my local quilt store.
I look forward to participating in your Group. Happy String Sewing :)

Vintage String Quilts

I took these photos at our local quilt show this past October, and I thought you might like to see them here.  I have more explanations and photos on my blog Indigo Threads.

Both of these quilts had older quilts inside as the "batting".  They are very heavy quilts.  I think these qualify as pretty much the ultimate in scrap quilting!

Two Christmas Gifts - Done

My granddaughter is now in kindergarten and has to great teachers. She wants to gift them something special and asked me to "make something special." How could I not after that request. I asked each teacher what their favorite colors were and went to work.
The first is of course a lion. The favorite colors are orange & white which are the school colors & the lion is the mascot. It measures 20" square.
The second favorite colors are red & black. I added a grayish fabric to jazz it up. This one also measures 20" square.
Now if I can convince my granddaughter to wait until the class Christmas party.....laugh out loud!
