These are the first four 12.5" string blocks
for a quilt top that will be donated to Quilts of Valor.
These are being pieced onto thin muslin.
One consistent 1.5" red string
plus a variety of scrappy blue strings
form the center for each block.
Thirty-five blocks will use up a LOT of scrappy
white-on-black and black-on-white strings.
The goal is a layout five blocks wide
by seven blocks long.
LOVE the way these look together!

Gorgeous blocks! You gave me such a great idea- if I use black and whites, I can stretch my limited amount of red and blue strips and make things more interesting. I am working on a triangle string zig zag thing I saw in an old book on string quilts. I will have to get my act together and photo it.
ReplyDeleteLove the blocks!!
So pretty - love your color choices. Can't wait to see the flimsy finished!
ReplyDeleteReally neat pairings of colors for this one...hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteWonderful fabric layout. Thanks for sharing it.
ReplyDeleteI also sew for Quilts of Valor. One of my favorite quilts I made for them was a blue, green and aqua string quilt. It was hard to give that quilt up.
