Signing on from southern Ontario

My name is Joanne and I have great fun playing with my scraps and my strings. Currently I have been making "lasagna" style string quilts with 1 1/2" strings. After I have the quilt to the 8 1/2" width I then cut blocks to use to construct a more manageable size and shape quilt. Should be able to get a photo in the next day or so if the sun comes out. Joanne

edited to add this photo. I made a very long string of green 1 1/2" strips. This is put together much like the popular jelly roll race quilts. You make a long string, then fold it back on itself and stitch the long side. Repeat and repeat. This gives you a long piece that is 8 strips wide. I then cut that strip in three and joined the resulting segments to make a rectangular shape. Joanne

I like the sound of your method for lasagna strings. I may just have to put one of these on my list for a future quilt.

Lovely to "meet" you!

Hello to you, from another in Southern Ontario. I like those lasagna strings. Might be the next string quilt on my list.

Going on retreat this Thursday and "Jelly Roll Races" is one of the activities planned! I too have made my own jelly roll, from FQs in my case. I'll post a photo when I come back.
